Roosevelt Tavern, a dog-friendly restaurant established in 2011, presents a seasonally inspired American menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Guests can savor mouthwatering burgers, crabcakes, steaks, fish, and pasta at this venue, which boasts a rich history dating back to 1860. The property, initially purchased by... blacksmith Frederick Schaale for $275, saw the construction of his residence three years later. A relative, Charles F. Schaale, moved in and established a business as a Merchant Tailor and Grocer in 1868, with the Schaale family retaining ownership until 1890. Following a period of ownership changes between 1890 and 1911, the location became a cigar store, first under John Schrantz in 1911, then Dairyman Bros. Cigars in 1921, Miller Bros. & Dellinger Cigars in 1923, the West End Smoke Shop in 1925, and finally, the Roosevelt Cigar Store under Washington C. Lauer in 1933, a testament to the popularity of cigar stores in that era.
