Josef's Gyros Kabob, a dog-friendly establishment, first opened its doors in 2004, originating from a small shop on the back of College Avenue. Josef Sattakeh established this venue with a focus on the culinary traditions of his native Iran and surrounding regions, quickly cultivating a devoted following among food enthusiasts... in the Fox Valley for its authentic flavors. Over the subsequent decade, the restaurant experienced several relocations throughout downtown Appleton before ultimately returning to its original intimate space on Soldier Square. Recognizing that the demands of the restaurant business were best suited for a younger generation and desiring to retire, Josef Sattakeh passed the torch to Carl Sanderfoot, a long-time patron. Sanderfoot worked closely with Josef to ensure the continuation of his signature techniques and time-honored recipes. Today, Josef's Gyros Kabob upholds the unwavering commitment to quality and freshness that defined its early success, while also exploring innovative interpretations of classic Mediterranean cuisine.
