The Thirsty Turtle traces back to May 2011 when James Yacenda of Florham Park Realty presented Growth Restaurants with the opportunity to develop a restaurant at his shopping center, which included a liquor license and available space. Following several months of negotiations, Mr. Yacenda agreed to sell his liquor license and finance renovations, leasing the former Trader Joe's location to a new entity, Florham Park Restaurants, LLC, co-founded by principals of Growth Restaurants and joined by John Dourney and Jim Beers, who managed Bamboo Grille and the Famished Frog, respectively. This venture also saw the municipality of Florham Park approve the planned construction, with Mr. Yacenda contributing significantly to the exterior improvements of Regency Plaza and the addition of parking spaces, creating a welcoming venue where dogs are welcome.
