Established in 1890, Spechts Texas in San Antonio, TX, offers an authentic taste of Texas cuisine and beverages, alongside live music and events. This historic establishment, with roots tracing back to a store built in 1887 by Fridolin Hans from materials hauled from San Antonio, has a rich past. Originally a vaudeville house in... the 1890s, it also saw the rebuilding of its cotton gin in 1890 after a fire, which operated until the boll weevil devastated Texas cotton crops in 1933. William Specht purchased the store in 1908, renaming it Specht's Store and adding a saloon and dancehall. The original bar, hand-carved by William, still stands, complete with the cash register he acquired in 1905. Today, Spechts Texas is a dog-friendly restaurant that continues to provide a vibrant atmosphere for patrons and their canine companions, and offers event space rentals.
