Canopy and the Roots, a dog-friendly establishment that opened its doors on February 4, 2020, offers a unique social house experience where guests can literally sit in a tree. This venture, a culmination of a lifetime of inspiration after the owners' return from Costa Rica in 2003, was brought to life through four months of... intense creativity and skilled construction. Established in 2020, just six weeks before the pandemic's economic impact, Canopy and the Roots was met with tremendous community support from Dahlonega locals and visitors alike. The restaurant's vision is to cultivate a space that celebrates community, joy, and graciousness, planting a seed for growth, hence its name. The menu at Canopy and the Roots features coffee, tea, baked goods, and snacks, with dedicated gluten-free and vegan options sourced from local vendors like HomeSpun and Daily Bread. The imported Costa Rican coffee, Café Britt, and Mountain Fresh ice cream and milk further underscore the establishment's commitment to serving the community by supporting local producers. Beyond its culinary offerings, Canopy and the Roots provides diverse entertainment and wellness experiences. Live performances occur throughout the week, including Praise nights on Tuesdays and open mic sessions, with a full schedule available on the restaurant's website. Additionally, guests can enjoy a heated yoga room and a 100-person underground speakeasy Listening Room, perfect for intimate gatherings. The restaurant, a testament to both good ideas and "God-ideas," was realized with the support of prayer, 3rd Element Studio for interior design, and LYTLEfoto for branding and graphic design, alongside its local vendor partners. Canopy and the Roots welcomes four-legged friends to share in the vibrant atmosphere of its social house.
