Heritage East at Culture ETX, a dog-friendly restaurant established in 2019, reimagines East Texas cuisine with modern culinary artistry. This establishment honors the soul of the region by blending cherished family traditions, inspired by Chef Lance McWhorter's upbringing in Athens, Texas, with innovative techniques. Chef... McWhorter, a 7th-generation East Texan, draws from his grandmothers' kitchens and his global culinary experiences gained during military and security service careers. Originally opened as the award-winning upscale casual restaurant Culture ETX in 2019, the venue has since transitioned to Heritage East. This evolution, which also saw the addition of The Plaid Rabbit Social Club & Speakeasy in 2022, presents a more elegant and refined celebration of East Texas's culinary heritage. The menu features ethically raised, locally-sourced meats, fresh Gulf seafood, and garden-fresh produce, all crafted with respect for the region's culture. This dog-friendly spot is a testament to Chef McWhorter's dedication to introducing elevated East Texas cuisine to the world. His culinary achievements include winning "Bite of the Season" on the Emmy Award-winning TV show The Texas Bucket List for his Heritage Pork Chop, a version of which is consistently featured. He has also been recognized as the Dallas "Prince of Pork" at Cochon 555 and showcased his skills on Food Network's Chopped. Heritage East at Culture ETX welcomes guests to rediscover the essence of East Texas, bite by delicious bite.
