Dog-friendly The Blazer Pub boasts a name rooted in a late 1800s western Irish tradition where foxhunters and their hounds would celebrate successful hunts by burning down their temporary shelters, reminiscent of the "Galway Blazer." This establishment, built in 1928, originally served as a Route 22 rest stop, with owners... dispensing hot dogs from the front window. By the early 1950s, the location transitioned into a full-fledged restaurant and tavern. Tom and Emer Heavey first opened The Blazer Pub in 1971, and in April of 1988, Richard and Rita O'Leary took ownership from the Heavey family, continuing its legacy as a welcoming spot.
