Since its establishment in 1972, Frank's Restaurant & Smokehouse has been a cornerstone of down-home country cooking. Originally converted from a Blue Bird drive-in on Airline Hwy. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Frank Dedman Sr., his wife Carolyn, and their children, the establishment quickly became known for its traditional... southern breakfast and the "best homemade biscuits in the world!" A move across the street in 1983 saw a partnership form between Frank Sr., Carolyn, Frank Jr., and Cathy Dedman, continuing the legacy. By 1999, Frank Sr. and Carolyn retired, passing the reins to Frank Jr. and his wife, who later expanded the family tradition with a second location in Prairieville in 2004. Throughout its history, Frank's Restaurant & Smokehouse has been a true family-owned and operated establishment, with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and spouses contributing to its success. This dog-friendly spot offers a diverse menu, from morning coffee and homemade biscuits to southern-style country fried steak for lunch. Beyond dine-in, Frank's Restaurant & Smokehouse also provides catering and smoked meats, ideal for feeding workers or hosting special events, with convenient delivery and fair pricing. Visitors can look forward to a taste of authentic southern comfort food at this beloved venue, where dogs are welcome.
